Paris Saint-Germain are entering a significant period of transition this summer as no fewer than nine players from their squad head to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while the club simultaneously plans a strategic overhaul of its roster.
PSG’s World Cup Contingent
France and Portugal are the two most represented nations in PSG’s squad at the World Cup, with a combined nine players set to feature in North America. Key French internationals Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Désiré Doué have all been selected by Didier Deschamps, while Lucas Hernandez also travels with Les Bleus.
The presence of so many PSG players at the World Cup is both a badge of honour for the club and a logistical challenge for pre-season planning. Manager Luis Enrique will have a reduced squad available for the early weeks of summer preparation.
Departures Being Planned
PSG are planning for the exits of Kang-in Lee and Gonçalo Ramos, with the club having made no moves to extend the contracts of either player. Both will be available if suitable offers arrive during the window. Lee has attracted interest from several clubs, while Ramos — despite showing flashes of his best form — has not established himself as the regular starter PSG hoped for.
In contrast, contract extension talks are underway with Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé, who have been central to PSG’s attacking identity. Barcola in particular is attracting strong interest from Bayern Munich, making his renewal a top priority for the club.
Julian Alvarez on PSG’s Radar
PSG are monitoring the situation of Julián Álvarez at Atlético Madrid. The Argentine World Cup winner has reportedly not ruled out a move to the Parc des Princes, and PSG view him as the ideal replacement striker who can complement their high-tempo pressing system. Negotiations are at an early stage, but the interest is genuine.
